The second annual 11-minute Playwriting Competition will be held at 7 p.m., November 9 and 10 in the Teaching Auditorium of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (north campus).

Organized by South Rowan drama teacher Sarah Drinkard, and sponsored by South Rowan HIgh School's Young Order of Dramatic Actors (YODA), the competition open to all Rowan County high school students.

The top six plays submitted by Rowan County students are selected. They are student-directed and performed.

The plays include "Everything We Tried," by Christian Dionne of Carson High School. Directed by Sarah Drinkard, actors include Christian Dionne, Samantha Sain, Jeremy Proctor and Faith Howell.

"Delusion" was written by Natalie Lyles of South Rowan. Directed by Haley Haithcock, also of South Rowan, the actors include Amanda Blankenship, Kristian Doty of South Rowan and Kathryn Long of Carson.

"The Movers," written by Cody Gasque of Carson, is directed by Abby Bullard of South Rowan. Actors include Ethan Misenheimer of Carson, Taylor Fink of Salisbury High; Jeremy Proctor, Yessica Herrera and Annalise Padgett, all of South Rowan High.

"In Which Lies Subside" was written by Amber Adams and directed by C.J. Catanese, both of South Rowan. Actors include Mollie Champion, Taylor Chandler, Yessica Herrera and Christian Barringer, all of South Rowan.

"Songs With the Devil" was written by Jeremy Proctor and is being directed by Quinn Roth of South Rowan. Actors include Adam Corriher, Quinn Roth, Chas Troyer, Lauren Brown and Heaven Bare, all from South Rowan.

"They Never Found the Holy Grail" was written by Kim Lowder of Carson and directed by Lane Turbyfill of South. Actors include, from South Rowan, Ethan Crater and Annalise Padgett; and Christian Dionne and Ethan Misenheimer of Carson.

Technical crew includes Haley Buder, Nataline Lyles and Emily Kinney of South Rowan and Christina Trexler of Carson.

The audience will vote on the top two plays, with the first place winner receiving $100 and second place $50.
