Brief Woman arrested for several drug charges

A Salisbury woman faces charges after police officers executing a search warrant seized 36 rocks of crack cocaine, scales, Vicodin, Ecstasy, 29.6 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at her home Aug. 17.

Woman arrested for several drug charges

A Salisbury woman faces charges after police officers executing a search warrant seized 36 rocks of crack cocaine, scales, Vicodin, Ecstasy, 29.6 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at her home Aug. 17.

Latasha Sherrell Wilks, 32, 1219 Tabernacle St., was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance, trafficking in cocaine and possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held under $10,000 secured bond pending an Aug. 21 first appearance in court.

Mary Ann Sumner was charged at the scene with possession of drug paraphernalia on a citation and released.

In other Salisbury Police Department reports:

* Robert Curlee, 203 Gold Hill Drive, reported a CD player was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home the night of Aug. 16.

* A counterfeit $20 was passed at Burger King, 700 W. Jake Alexander Blvd., on Aug. 17.

* A former employee is under investigation for embezzlement between July 11 and Aug. 17 at Brian Center, 635 Statesville Blvd.

* Anthony Barnhardt reported his stolen credit card had been used Aug. 17 at 1820 W. Innes St.

* Andrew Davis Jr. reported vandals "keyed" his vehicle while it was parked at Courtyard Apartments, 810 S. Main St., Aug. 17. Damage totaled $4,000.

* Christopher Jon Dunshie, 1031 Edgedale Drive, reported a CD player stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home Aug. 17.

* Lisa Hunter reported vandals caused $1,000 damage to her vehicle while it was parked at 1134 S. Main St. Aug. 17.

* Dermarko Dominic Sturdivant reported he was assaulted and robbed of his watch, knife and cash about 3 a.m. Aug. 18 at 216 S. Craige St.

* Dashon Kyle Johnson, 26, was charged Aug. 16 with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance at 315 Ashbrook Road.

* Michael Wayne Brooker, 18, was charged Aug. 16 with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance at 417 S. Lee St.

* Mario Teran Garcia reported he was assaulted by three suspects Aug. 14 at 1414 Ludwick Heights Lane.

* Bob Zimmerman, 405 Windsor Drive, reported Aug. 14 that his cell phone was stolen from his home July 30.

* Daniel Dwayne Lowery, 24, was charged Aug. 14 with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance at 319 Bendix Drive.

* Joshua Alexander Howard, 19, was charged Aug. 14 with possession of drug paraphernalia at 319 Bendix Drive.

* Patrick Jason Brandit reported his car was stolen Aug. 16 from 741 Lincolnton Road. The car, a Honda, is valued at $3,000.

* Lorie Myrick Hutchinson, 333 Mildred Ave., reported vandals spray-painted her car while it was parked at her home Aug. 16.

* James Brittain Butler, 1722 Colony Road, reported items stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home Aug. 15 and 16.

* A commercial truck owned by Rea Contracting was stolen from Friendly Pub, 120 Military Ave., Aug. 16.

* Frederick Jones reported vandals damaged a window at 701 Elm St. Aug. 16.

* Johnny W. Legrand, 110 Sycamore Road, reported his 2000 Ford Expedition was stolen from his driveway Aug. 16. The vehicle is valued at $6,500.

* James Preston Conkel reported he was robbed at gunpoint Aug. 16 at 1134 S. Main St.

* Cameron Mack Thompson, 29, was charged Aug. 16 with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance at 1217 Tabernacle St.

* Johnna Michelle Black, 19, 612 Rowan Mill Road, was charged Aug. 11 with assault inflicting serious injury based on a complaint by Angelia Michelle Black Smith, 550 Hope Hill Road, No. 13. Trial date is Aug. 31.

* Stephen Eric Blanton, 23, 127 E. 11th St., was charged Aug. 11 with using a telephone to threaten based on a complaint by Karen Latasha Brown, 203 S. Clay St. He was held under $500 secured bond

* David Bryan Moose, 43, 307 W. Fisher St., was charged Aug. 11 with communicating threats and injury to personal property based on a complaint by Melanie Lynn Wilde, same address. Trial date is Sept. 14.

* Marshall Keith Neeley Jr., 43, 1100 Bringle Ferry Road, No. 16, was charged Aug. 11 with assault on a female. Trial date is Sept. 7.

Woman charged with assault on a child

Joyce Faye Russell, 48, 1135 Inglewood Lane, was charged July 26 with assault on a child under 12 and assault and battery based on a complaint by Christina Marie Moore, 24, 1115 Inglewood Lane.

Russell was released on a written promise to appear in court Sept. 7.

Also on July 27 Moore was charged with simple assault based on a complaint by Russell. Moore was released on a written promise to appear in court Sept. 1.

In other Sheriff's Department reports:

* Kevin Dean Ingle, 36, and Kristie Cauthen Ingle, 36, both of 8606 Smith Road, Kannapolis, were charged with assaulting each other and possession of drug paraphernalia Aug. 15 at their home. Both were held 48 hours pending a bond hearing. Trial date is Sept. 25.

* Joshuah Scott Rutledge, 24, 310 Sam Euart Road, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 15 with simple assault based on a complaint by Gerard Rodriguez, 11016 Thousand Oaks Drive, Huntersville. Rutledge was released on a written promise to appear in court Sept. 28.

* Richard Louis Tevepaugh, 36, 2655 Centenary Church Road, Mount Ulla, was charged Aug. 16 with making a false report to a police station, driving while license revoked and failing to pay child support. He was held under total secured bond of $716 pending an Oct. 4 trial date.

* Crystal Ann Hodgson, 1055 Zebulon Lane reported a burglar broke into her home Aug. 14 or 15 and stole jewelry and a piggy bank and plastic drawer both containing money. Total loss was $1,097.

* Carol Rhodes Smith, 47, 825 Ryan St., was charged Aug. 14 with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. She was released on a written promise to appear in court Aug. 16.

* Carson Everett Daniel, 17, 209 Trappers Ridge Drive, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 14 with simple assault, second-degree trespassing and communicating threats based on a complaint by Jonathan Godair, 301 Carolina Ave., Rockwell. Trial date is Sept. 21.

* Victoria Gotwald Rufty reported a burglar broke into her vacant house at 1880 St. Luke's Church Road Aug. 13 or 14 and stole several items. Total loss was $185.

* James Edward Lynch, 39, 8855 Fisher Road, Lot 21, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 14 with injury to personal property and simple assault. He was released on a written promise to appear in court Sept. 14.

* Brian Ward of Sunland Construction Inc. of Tuscaloosa, Ala., reported the theft of a $5,200 skid steer loader from a gas pipeline construction site off Young Road between Aug. 11 and 14.

* Heath Lee Keller, 27, 3868 N. U.S. 601, was charged Aug. 14 with possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on N.C. 801. Trial date is Sept. 15.

* John D. Eckard of Salisbury reported the theft of three chainsaws and another saw from his business at 3435 Linn St., Landis, Aug. 9 or 10. Total loss was $1,710.

* Mell Samuel Adkins, 3765 Needmore Road, Woodleaf, reported the theft of his mailbox and pole the night of Aug. 12. Total loss was $30.

* Someone shot paintballs at several houses and vehicles on Oakridge Drive the night of Aug. 13, according to Ryan Jeremy Heard, 1560 Oakridge Drive.

* Two marijuana plants were found growing in the area of 2318 Fowler St., Kannapolis, on Aug. 14.

* Sue Ann Coughenar, 175 Country Village Drive, reported a burglar tried to break into her home Aug. 13 or 14. Total loss was $380.

* Kayla Ann Moore, 19, 253 Bluefield Drive, China Grove, was charged July 26 with two counts of simple assault based on a complaint by Angela Walter, 271 Bluefield Drive, China Grove. Moore was released on a written promise to appear in court Aug. 3.

* Steven Lee Hepler of Salisbury reported someone used his personal information to obtain phone services on July 25.

* Laretta Shantell Bowers, 22, 205 Pickler Road, was charged July 27 with injury to personal property. She was held under $1,000 secured bond pending the next session of Rowan Superior Court.

* Chasity Renee Holmes of Mocksville reported July 27 that reported jewelry valued at $2,050 was stolen from 3380 Statesville Blvd. July 14 or 15.

* Lisa Marie Kaminski, 7285 Pop Basinger Road, reported a female unknown to her came to her home July 17 and assaulted her.

* Gary Franklin Curlee of Richfield reported a $3,500 four-wheeler stolen from the 10710 block of Bringle Ferry Road July 8 or 9.

* Kim Morgan Walton of Salisbury reported vandals broke a window, set a picnic table on fire and painted graffiti on the sidewalks at Hurley Elementary School, 625 Hurley School Road, the night of July 26. Damage totaled $425.

* Robin Michelle Gallimore of Woodleaf reported July 27 that her purse was snatched in the parking lot of a convenience store at 175 N.C. 801, Woodleaf.

* Bobby Lyerly of the N.C. Department of Transportation reported strobe lights and batteries from two motor graders and a backhoe left on Kerr Mill Road at Sloan Road the night of Aug. 7. Total loss was $1,900.

* Tiffany Celeste Smith, 16, 7920 Red Road, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 7 with financial card fraud. She was given an Aug. 10 first appearance in court.

* A customer drove away from a local business with the gas pump still attached to the vehicle, causing 50-75 gallons of gasoline to leak out, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Department.

Julie Webber of Rockwell, who works at the West Rowan Grill, 8870 Statesville Blvd., where the incident occurred about 5:30 a.m. Aug. 16, told deputies there was also $200 damage to the gas hose and pump.

* Jeffrey Lynn Safrit of Salisbury reported his cellular phone was stolen July 8 from 1837 Rainey Road. The phone is valued at $120.

* Thelma McNair Williams, 2140 Airport Road, reported her 1994 Honda Accord was stolen from her driveway the night of Aug. 15.

* John Allen Gilmore, 3460 Hickory Place, reported the theft of a $1,000 motor scooter from behind his home between Aug. 14 and 16.

* Bill Russell, 1285 Phifer Road, Cleveland, reported vandals damaged his mailbox and several others in the neighborhood the night of Aug. 15.

* Jeremy Wayne Miller, 17, 2308 Sides Road, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 16 with simple assault based on a complaint by Joseph Wayne Miller, same address. He was held under $1,000 secured bond pending a Sept. 28 trial date.

* John Trexler of Trexler Auto, 5510 Mooresville Road, reported Aug. 16 that tools had been stolen during a break-in at the business.

* Myron Gilbert Jones, 49, 12004 Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell, was charged Aug. 16 with assault on a female based on a complaint by Patricia Jones, same address. Trial date is Aug. 31.

* Nenva Jo Johnson, 8177 Orphanage Road, Rockwell, reported her son's bicycle was stolen from her yard Aug. 15.

* Victoria Gotwald Rufty, 2080 St. Luke's Church Road, reported a burglar crawled through a window at her home the night of Aug. 15 and then stole tools valued at $200.

* Joey Adkins, 1400 Long Ferry Road, reported a laptop computer and silver ring stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home the night of Aug. 14. Total loss was $2,045.

* Tony Talmadge Thompson, 35, 2155 Stirewalt Road, China Grove, was charged Aug. 16 with communicating threats based on a complaint by Frederick Herrmann of Mount Pleasant. Trial date is Aug. 31.

* Bryant Lee Gandy reported the Aug. 16 theft of a $700 generator from a mobile home he owns at 1485 Upper Palmer Road.

* Jason Richard Hadrava, 1855 Seventh St. Extension, reported someone broke into two vehicles parked at his home the night of Aug. 16 and stole a black case containing tools valued at $2,000 and a set of server/client software valued at $10,000.
