China Grove Elementary School recently recognized the following students as April Cardinals with Character for exhibiting the character trait of acceptance:

Lenoir-Rhyne lists

Three Salisbury students have been named to the spring semester president's list at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory for earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher.

They are Sara Beaver, Lauren Honeycutt and Julie Lackey.

Heather Johnson and Douglas Kearney, both of Salisbury, were named to the spring semester dean's list for earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Catawba scholarships

Eight local high school graduates have been awarded academic scholarships to attend Catawba College this fall.

They are Derek Freeze, Nathan Wrights, Jamey Small, Megan Spidell, Joshua Meredith, Leah Farris, Ryann Baker and Jonathan Plummer.

Freeze and Wrights are South Rowan High School graduates. Freeze is the son of Dale and Angela Freeze of China Grove. Wrights is the son of David and Sandra Wrights of China Grove.

Small, Spidell, Meredith, Farris and Baker are all East Rowan graduates. Small, son of Shadrack and Martene Small of Rockwell, plans to play football for Catawba. Spidell is the daughter of Sandra Merrifield of Rockwell. Meredith is the son of Stephen and Deborah Meredith of Gold Hill. Farris is the daughter of Katherine and Dan Farris of Rockwell. Baker, daughter of Donna Baker of Rockwell, plans to play softball for Catawba.

Plummer, a graduate of North Hills Christian School, is the son of Steve and Doris Plummer of Salisbury.

Three have received Catawba academic grants. They are Kevin McMillan, Matthew Jamison and Nick Kalogermitros.

McMillan, a North Rowan graduate, plans to play baseball for Catawba. He is the son of John and Cindy McMillan of Salisbury. Jamison, son of Norma Jamison of Salisbury, is a West Rowan graduate. Kalogermitros, a Salisbury High graduate, is the son of Demitrios and Loukia Kalogermitros of Rockwell.

Citizenship awards

Rowan Academy Charter School presented Citizenship Awards for the fourth quarter to the following students:

Kindergarten: Galen Pemberton.

First grade: Altereck Shields.

Second grade: LaChaya Birst.

Third grade: MyQuon Stout.

Fourth grade: Myles Swann.

Fifth grade: Staci Price.

Music department: Miles Swann.

Faith recognition

Faith Elementary School recently recognized students as May Good Citizens.
