MOCKSVILLE -- Samuel Leonard Daniel, 83, Daniel Road, died Tuesday(Aug. 3, 2004) at his home.

Born Feb. 15, 1921, in Davie County, Mr. Daniel, a son of the late Silas Dulie and Edith Annie Martin Daniel, was a 1938 graduate of Cooleemee High School, He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Retired from REA Electric after 35 years, he was a lifelong member of Concord United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Cooleemee Volunteer Fire Department.

A grandson preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters Rhonda D. Snider, High Point, and Beverly D. Hartsell, Salisbury; son Gary L. Daniel, Rockwell; sisters Peggy Tutterow, Belle Boger and Minnie Foster, all of Mocksville; seven grandchildren; and two step-granddaughters.

Services: Graveside, 11 today, Concord United Methodist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Mark Evans.

Visitation: In the church fellowship hall after the service.

Eaton Funeral Home is in charge.

LEXINGTON -- Mary Elizabeth Ford, 98, formerly of Lexington, died Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at Asbury Care Center at Aldersgate in Charlotte.

Services: Graveside, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Lexington City Cemetery.

Visitation: After the service.

Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge.

Harry Eugene Long

KANNAPOLIS -- The funeral is today for Harry Eugene Long, 75, 454 Autumn Trail, Palm Garden Garden, Fla., formerly of Kannapolis, who died Saturday (July 31, 2004) at Hospice of Palm Beach Court in West Palm Beach after a period of declining health.

Services: 2 today, Whitley's Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Steve Holshouser and the Rev. Brian Vanderford. Burial, Organ Lutheran Church cemetery, Salisbury. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 1-2 today at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of sister Linda Robinette, 345 Frye St., China Grove.

ALBEMARLE -- Blanton Ray Lowder, 78, of Shady Drive, died Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at his home.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Locust Presbyterian Church cemetery, Locust.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Brandy N. Luck

LEXINGTON -- Brandy Nicole Luck, 21, Myers Road, died Sunday (Aug. 1, 2004).

Services: 4 p.m. Friday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Walter's Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of her mother, Sarah Denise Luck, 409 Moore Drive.

Ramsey S. Rice

CLEVELAND -- Ramsey Simon "Sime" Rice, 110 Jones St., died Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health and a week of serious illness.

Born in Davie County, Mr. Rice was a son of the late Tom and Maggie Spain Rice. He was educated in the Davie County schools.

A World War II veteran, he retired from Burlington Industries, Mooresville. He was a member and former steward of Third Creek AME Zion Church.

Survivors include wife Mary Cathryne Avery Rice; sons Kevin R. Rice, Charlotte, and Derrick Todd Rice, Cleveland;daughters the Rev. Carolyn R. Blanton, Donna Blackwell and Anita Hovis, all of Salisbury; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Donnie Kent. Burial, Third Creek AME Zion Church cemetery, Cleveland.

Visitation: 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Jones Street.

ALBEMARLE -- James Koke "J.K." Russell Jr., 72, 44558 Morrow Mountain Road, died Friday (July 30, 2004) at his home.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Stony Hill United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.
