Editor's note: The writer, a sophomore at South Rowan High, is responding to the Dec. 8 article "Salisbury City Council considers building park for skateboarders": Skateboarding is not a crime, but people treat it as if it is one. We skateboarders use the rails and steps because the South Rowan YMCA's skate park is too crowded. Also, the Starlight skate park in Salisbury is way too small and there are not enough obstacles for skateboarders like me. The other problem is that the skate park is so crowded on Friday and Saturday nights that skateboarders skate at the mall next door. I think there should be a new skate park built in Salisbury to give skateboarders more places to go. One reason is would be a good idea is that it would boost the popularity of Salisbury. I am for a skate park in Salisbury. -- Amanda Riley Salisbury
